Paul is writing to a younger pastor, named Timothy to encourage him in living faithfully for the Lord.  Throughout this litter, there is a repeated refrain to not be ashamed, to not give in to the pressures of the godless culture surrounding him, rather share in the suffering and to be found approved and qualified as a servant of the Lord, faithfully proclaiming the word of God.  We need to heed these words from Paul to be confident and bold in living out and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Let us press on for God’s glory!
